·       “Lord of the Flies” is Hebrew for Beelzebub, another name for the Devil
·       William Golding, Britain, 1911- 1993
·       Written after WWII and the atomic bomb

·       In, The Lord of the Flies, Golding is making the statement that we cannot escape our violent tendencies, and without social order, we devolve into a state of chaos.
