Welcome Back!

I hope everybody had a good winter break. Welcome back and prepare to work hard.

Thoughts for Friday

Many of you guys are doing a good job today on your test.  I have observed quite a few people who are falling behind on their binders, though.  Please remember that as we get closer to the end of the year, we need to remain focused on what is most important: learning.  Have a nice weekend and come prepare Monday to start the text of the play.

I will be in training this afternoon.  Remember to leave your Elizabethan English practice words with the sub.  I will retrieve them later.  Don't forget tomorrow we have a test over Shakespeare and  Julius Caesar. There will also be a binder check.

Last day before Spring Break

Guys, today we are starting our unit on Julius Caesar. We will watch a powerpoint over Shakespeare's life. This Spring Break, watch for extra credit assignments to posted on the blog. Be safe and careful this break!

TAKS is behind us now!

I'm very, very proud of each and every one of you.  Having spoken to many students, I'm hearing feedback that you guys tried as hard as you could.  We wont get scores for a few weeks, but I want you guys to know that it is a tremendous success, no matter what.  You all gave it your best, and this is what matters most.  Good luck to all of you and look forward to Julius Caesar, among other things.  A much deserved Spring Break begins next week.

ONE DAY LEFT!!!

Here we go guys, the last day of preparation.  Keep in mind that today will be shortened due to assembly schedule.  This is so that we can rehearse exactly what needs to be done tomorrow. You will be meeting in your testing room during the assembly time. Today we will keep it light and do our best to review the main points of what we will do tomorrow.  Don't forget the  TAKS Gameplan, TAKS Skeleton and the Open-Ended Response format. 

Two days of preperation left!

We need to remain serious and focused over the next two days.  We're on assembly tomorrow to do a last minute run-through. If you have questions, now is the time to ask. Tutoring before and after school, today and tomorrow.

Friday is here, TAKS test looming near...

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a lot of work to do. Final drafts due today for a test grade.  Also, Saturday School tomorrow.  We're running out of time.

Three days!

Getting closer and closer... remember, if you have questions, please ask.  We all need to be serious and on the same page for the next several days.  There will be pullouts today.  There will also be tutoring before and after school up until TAKS.  There will also be Saturday school from 9-12. Thank you.

Five days...

Folks, we have five days of instructional time (not including today) until TAKS. By Friday of this week we need to completely finish the triplet that we are working on. Next week on Monday and Tuesday we are going to do a last minute review over everything that we need to know for the test.  Also, remember that we have tutoring before and after school and pullout sessions on Wednesday and Thursday. 

Six more days...

Ladies and gentlemen, we are progressing nicely.  However, I am beginning to see a lack of focus on the part of some students. Now is not the time to start losing our grasp of the importance of coming to class ready to learn.  Remember open-ended questions need a lot of work.  A surprising number of people left these blank on the packet that we have been working on.  Expect to be addressing this in class. Thank you.

Saturday tutoring

Guys, I just want to thank everyone who came out to Saturday tutoring. We got a lot of work done. Remember, there will be tutoring before and after school all this week, and next Saturday, in anticipation of TAKS on the 7th.

Seven more days...

Folks, we only have seven instructional days remaining before the TAKS test.  I hope to see you all working hard.  Today we will have a test and binder check. Afterwards, please enjoy your weekend.  I'll be seeing some of you for tutoring on Saturday and afterwards the soccer team will be playing a huge game at Loos. I hope to see you all there.
